messing about on the river

One of our favourite publications ‘The Simple Things’ suggested re-reading a classic book this month. There are so many to choose from, but we have been listening to ‘three men in a boat’ by Jerome K Jerome. It’s a warm and funny tale of an adventure aboard a wooden skiff on the Thames in the 1880’s, with the true star of the book, Montmorency the dog! It’s made us wistful for lazy days beside the water and picnics in the sun. Here are our offerings to outside living, a leather picnic-rug roll and matching flask cover. We are hoping for a long, hot summer.

Another couple of things to recommend this week @silverreserve our friend Matthew’s new single is called ‘slow tv.’ ‘Beautiful fragmentary songs which slowly dismantle you’ is how the critic Seamus Fogerty describes his music. The perfect accompaniment to a perfect picnic day.

For lovely books on all manner of suitable subjects for taking time to sit in the sun and read, head to @woodbridgebooks, run by our loveliest childhood friend Susie; it’s a beautiful red brick haven of all things papery in Woodbridge, Suffolk.

Persephone books in Bath are holding a three- day festival with forgotten books, talks, book groups and literary walks around Bath from 9-21st April.
