since 1990 I have worked with a vast range of leather, I use this experience to choose individual hides, checking for quality and finish but also investigating the provenance of each from an animal welfare standpoint. for this reason I only work with the highest standard of british leather. leather is a natural and evocative material, that will gain character as it ages with a little care and the occasional feed. I use a special blend of waxes to finish my pieces, as some saddle soaps or polishes can pull the natural oils out of the leather and replace them with chemicals, shortening the lifespan. I am more than happy to supply the wax for your item, on enquiry

all the leather that I use comes from J & E Sedgewick and Co - a tiny tannery just outside Walsall, who have been trading since 1900, they produce small batches of very high quality leather from british cows, so I know that the animals have been well treated during their lifetimes and I can pass on that assurance to my customers.
