Spring Greens

💚 Hello Spring 💚

Everything feels a little greener right now… and we’re here for it.

Fresh shoots are pushing through the soil, the evenings are stretching a little longer, and with the clocks about to spring forward, there’s that welcome feeling that brighter days are on their way. 🌱

Spring is all about renewal — new growth, fresh energy, and lighter, longer days. It’s a season that reminds us how much beauty there is in natural materials and the slow process of things growing, changing and evolving.

A little leather fact for you…
Leather is one of the few natural materials that actually improves with time. As it’s handled and used, it develops a rich patina — a soft sheen and deepening of colour created by wear, sunlight and the natural oils from our hands. No two pieces age in exactly the same way, which makes every handmade leather item completely unique.

In a way, it’s a bit like spring itself — shaped by nature, time and the elements.

So here’s to the colour green in all its forms:
new leaves, mossy paths, budding hedgerows and all the small signs that winter is loosening its grip.

Take a moment to notice the signs of spring around you today. 💚

Learn to cut your own patterns to the size you require and use them to trace onto top grade unwaxed leather, then cut out and mark up for stitching.

You will be using the traditional Saddlers’ two handed sewing technique to stitch your slippers together and add a small heel. With your finished slippers as a size guide, create your own envelope style storage bag using super soft suede and attach a hand rolled leather toggle to fasten.

The making process is completed entirely by hand using genuine leatherworking tools including vintage and antique pieces from the tutors own collection.
